Research, manufacturing, quality: what goes into the price of 8T3.

€750 for a serum? That is a significant amount of money. And anyone seeing the price of 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum for the first time may be asking exactly that question.

It is a fair question. After all, you cannot tell by looking at a serum how much goes into developing and manufacturing it. What you see are 50 small ampoules – not, however, the more than 25 years of research, complex biotechnological processes, and extensive quality controls behind them. In this article, we take a transparent look at what sets hormone-free 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum apart from conventional hair serums, how the active ingredient sCD83 is produced, and what the science shows about its use and effects.

In brief.

The price of 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum is not determined by any single factor. It reflects an entire chain of research, biotechnological manufacturing, and controlled quality processes.

  • More than 25 years of research: The scientific roots of 8T3 are in Erlangen, Germany, where Prof. Dr. Alexander Steinkasserer has been researching CD83 for many years.
  • A distinctive active ingredient: At the heart of the product is sCD83, a protein that occurs naturally in the human body and is produced biotechnologically for 8T3.
  • Manufacturing and purification: Numerous controlled process steps are required, from cultivating specialized yeast cells to producing a highly purified protein.
  • Extensive quality controls: Throughout manufacturing, the product is repeatedly tested to ensure that purity, quality, and activity meet established requirements.
  • Specialized manufacturing in Europe: From protein production to filling the individual ampoules, European partners handle different stages of the manufacturing process.

One package contains 50 ampoules and is designed to last for six months of use. At a total price of €750, that works out to €125 per month. What drives this price becomes especially clear when we look at what distinguishes 8T3 from conventional hair serums: its active ingredient and how that ingredient is produced.

Not all hair serums are the same.

When comparing prices, people usually start with what they can see: product size, how it is used, and the price. With a hair serum, however, it is worth taking a closer look at what is inside and how it is made.

At the heart of 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum is MAL-838, a specially developed active ingredient based on the protein CD83 (sCD83 in its soluble form). CD83 occurs naturally in the human body and is involved in immunological and regenerative processes. MAL-838 was developed for application to the hair follicle, where it specifically supports the natural regenerative processes at the hair root. This fundamentally sets 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum apart from conventional hair-care products. MAL-838 is not a conventional cosmetic raw material that is simply added to a formula.

More than 25 years of research as the foundation.

Behind 8T3 is a research history spanning more than 25 years. It began in Erlangen, Germany, where Prof. Dr. Alexander Steinkasserer started researching CD83. What began as basic immunology research continues to evolve scientifically today, drawing on expertise from multiple disciplines. A scientific advisory board supports the research, helping evaluate new findings and plan and assess studies. Its members include experts in dermatology, immunology, hair biology, and clinical development.

sCD83 & 8T3 Hair Serum: From protein to finished ampoule

How is sCD83 produced?

A protein like sCD83 cannot simply be mixed together. Its production begins with living cells and a carefully controlled process. For 8T3, sCD83 is produced by Northway Biotech in Lithuania, a partner specializing in biotechnological manufacturing processes. Specially adapted yeast cells are cultivated under controlled conditions in large bioreactors.

Over several days, the cells grow and multiply before being induced to produce the desired sCD83 protein and release it into the surrounding nutrient solution. After fermentation, the yeast cells are removed and the protein-rich solution is concentrated. A multistep purification process then begins. Using specialized separation methods known as ion-exchange chromatography, sCD83 is progressively separated from unwanted components and purified to an exceptionally high level that also meets pharmaceutical quality standards.

From active ingredient to finished serum: precision down to the ampoule.

Once the sCD83 has been produced, purified, and tested, the next stage of manufacturing begins. The active ingredient is shipped to our partner Rommelag in Germany, where the final formulation for 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum is produced. The serum is then filled into individual ampoules using a process known as Blow-Fill-Seal. The containers are formed, filled immediately, and sealed directly afterward. The result is 50 single-dose ampoules.

The advantage is that instead of storing the serum in one large bottle, each individual dose remains hygienically sealed until it is used. The serum only comes into contact with the environment immediately before application and is not exposed to contamination from repeated opening. At the same time, the single-dose packaging makes it possible to formulate the serum without preservatives.

Tested, documented, traceable: quality does not end with manufacturing.

Final testing takes place after filling. The ampoules are then sent to our specialized partner in Germany, Private Label Cosmetic Company, where they are packaged into a folding carton with informational materials. And quality control does not end with the finished package. Every product carries its own batch number, allowing the manufacturing chain to be traced.

Our commitment to quality.

Our 8T3 quality standards are complemented by independent testing organizations. The renowned Dermatest institute rated 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum as having „excellent tolerability,“ even for sensitive skin, and MyMicrobiom certified it as microbiome-friendly. The product is also vegan and cruelty-free.

A complex process alone is not proof of effectiveness.

A complex manufacturing process, stringent purity requirements, and extensive quality controls explain what goes into a product. For users, however, another question ultimately matters: „What happens during and after use?“ That is exactly why we also evaluated 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum scientifically. A six-month consumer use study examined how participants’ hair status changed with regular use of 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum.

What the six-month study shows.

A total of 23 people participated in the consumer use study. Changes in hair density were documented using TrichoLAB hair analyses and standardized Canfield photography, supplemented by a structured self-assessment. Some of the results:

  • 87% of participants showed an improvement or stabilization in their hair status.
  • 30% more hairs on average were measured after six months of use.
  • 100% of participants rated the application as good or very good.

Frequently asked questions about 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum.

sCD83 is produced using specially adapted yeast cells. After fermentation, the protein must be isolated, purified in multiple steps, and analyzed. It is only released for further processing once the established requirements for quality, purity, and activity have been met.

sCD83 is the soluble form of the body’s own protein CD83, which has been studied scientifically for many years. For 8T3, it was developed into MAL-838 — a specially formulated variant for cosmetic use designed to support the natural regenerative processes at the hair root.

One package is designed for six months of use. The serum is applied to the dry scalp twice a week. At a total price of €750, that works out to €125 per month.

One package contains 50 individually sealed ampoules. This keeps each dose hygienically sealed until use. At the same time, the single-dose packaging makes it possible to formulate the serum without preservatives. One ampoule is used per application.

Is 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum worth the price?

€750 remains a considered investment. Anyone primarily looking for a conventional hair- and scalp-care product will find plenty of less expensive alternatives. With 8T3, however, the focus is not conventional cosmetic care. It is an innovative approach based on more than 25 years of scientific research. Choosing 8T3 means investing in more than just 50 ampoules – it means investing in a scientifically developed approach and the substantial technological and quality-related effort required to make it available in this form.

Whether that difference is worth the price is, of course, a personal decision. Our goal is to be transparent about what goes into the product so that you can make that decision based on the facts.
